Truth be told, at least one phone was harmed during the making of this footage.
If you can recall what you were doing 438 days ago, you’re probably an Aston Villa fan.
Villa supporters know all too well the significance of this time period as up until their league clash against Reading on Tuesday night, they had gone 437 days (that’s three managers in Villa years) without winning an away game. And what better way to break this hoodoo than to do it in the most dramatic way possible?
Jonathan Kodjia was very fortunate to grab the opener for the visitors which came courtesy of a massive deflection off Tyler Blackett on the 38-minute mark. However, Aly Cissokho’s foul on Gareth McCleary in the second half gave the referee no option but to point to the penalty spot. Danny Williams was unable to convert it, but Yann Kermorgant smashed it in on the rebound.
With the clock winding down, the Villains were presented with a golden opportunity when Jordan Ayew was brought down inside the box in the 90th minute. He refused to cave under the pressure and coolly slotted the ball into the net to end Villa’s away drought and hand them their first win at home or away in 10 games.
The fans celebrated as if their club had won the World Cup, and one fan’s phone managed to survive the chaos in order to bless everyone with this fantastic footage of the celebrations.
