If things don’t work out for Remi Garde at Aston Villa, perhaps the club’s fans will call for former captain Olof Mellberg to take over.
The Swede, who spent seven years at Villa Park as a player, has begun his managerial career with Brommapojkarna in his homeland.
Brommapojkarna will play in the third tier next season after back-to-back relegations, making it a baptism of fire for Mellberg.
But Villa fans may hope to see him impress in Scandinavia in the light of the current state of affairs in the West Midlands.
Villa currently sit bottom of the Premier League with just five points from 14 games.
Garde is yet to win since taking over from Tim Sherwood, and defeat at home to Watford – coupled with results elsewhere – leaves the club seven points from safety.
A number of top players have represented Brommapojkarna over the years, including current international John Guidetti and former Arsenal and Sweden midfielder Anders Limpar.
