They’re very keen on the Chelsea winger
Barcelona have expressed an interest in signing Willian, but Chelsea are reluctant to negotiate unless Barcelona lift their initial offer of £50m.
The winger has been a consistent performer for Chelsea since he arrived in 2013, but may only have one big contract left in him at the age of 29.
Barcelona are still very keen to bring him to the Camp Nou to add depth and quality to a relatively thin squad, although they are reluctant to increase their bid to Chelsea’s asking price of £80m.
Instead, they are considering throwing an out of favour player into the deal. André Gomes, Paulinho, Rafinha Alcantara, or Yerry Mina, could be offered to Chelsea as part of a money plus player deal.
Gomes has not lived up to the expectations he created of himself while at Valencia and will almost certainly be offloaded, whether that be to Chelsea or elsewhere, this summer. Paulinho meanwhile has been a very useful plan B for Barça, popping up with some important goals.
Yerry Mina’s stock will be high after some impressive performances for Colombia at this World Cup, particularly against England, when he scored an equalising header in the dying moments of normal time.
