Barcelona star Neymar reportedly found guilty of tax evasion by Brazilian court

Simon Lloyd

Being one third of the greatest attacking trio club football has ever known, you might think life is pretty good for Neymar at the minute.

Along with his all-conquering Barca team-mates, he looks set to complete another clean sweep of trophies as the season nears its climax, but a report from his native Brazil suggests that there’s a cloud on the horizon for the 24-year-old.

Brazilian daily newspaper La Folha de Sao Paulo (via GOAL), report that he will have to stump up a whopping total of $188.8m Brazilian reales  (£35m) after allegedly being found guilty of tax evasion by a court in his homeland.

It’s claimed that Neymar failed to pay at least a staggering $63.6m through his management companies during a spell between 2012 and 2014. The remaining $125.2m is made up from fines and interest.

And just to cap it all off, he’s also facing allegations of corruption and fraud in Spain, following his 2013 move to Barcelona from Santos.

Poor lad. It’s a miracle he manages to put food on the table.
