Simon Lloyd

Considering that they’ve served up some of the greatest football the world has ever seen in recent years, we find it tough to get our heads around the fact that Barcelona are trailing the Premier League clubs in any way.

But according to reports, the Catalan club are finding it difficult to secure a shirt sponsorship deal that will allow them to keep pace with the big earnings of English clubs.

After Barca initially rejected a renewal offer from current shirt sponsors Qatar Airways, believing they could secure a more lucrative deal, The Mirror now claim that they have been forced to go back to the Qataris.

This all means that there’s a potential delay with the production of next season’s kit, with Nike facing a rush to get it completed in time for the pre-season tours.

Although it might seem unthinkable, Barca desperately need to up their revenue streams with contract renewals scheduled for several of their key players and their recent transfer ban finally lifted.
