The England manager appeared with the BBC and Sky Sports’ punditry teams in Atlanta
Super Bowl night is known for bringing out the biggest of A-list celebs, and Sunday evening in Atlanta was no different, as Gareth Southgate made an appearance at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the big one between New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.
The England manager, who also attended last year’s Super Bowl where the Patriots lost to Philadelphia Eagles, briefly joined the Sky Sports and BBC commentary teams during the first and second quarters of the game.

Perhaps not the most avid of NFL fans, Southgate used the opportunity to try and justify why being there would help him in his job as England manager, asking plenty of questions of the other pundits.
Generally, his appearance went down well with viewers…
Gareth Southgate gets it.
Takes you years of study but what a fantastic sport NFL is. #bbcnfl #superbowl— Keith Tweet 🥯 (@acidkeith) February 4, 2019
Gareth Southgate has no business being part of the #Superbowl coverage, but at least he's got the dignity of asking questions rather than completely winging it.

Quite enjoyed Gareth Southgate's appearance.
I'd you're not an expert in something then ask the people who are.
No silliness, just some good enquiring questions of the 2 ex-players.— Owain Thomas 🏴 🇺🇦 🏳️🌈 🏳⚧ (@Owain_Thomas) February 4, 2019

Love that Southgate is at the super bowl looking to apply some of the NFL ways of approaching professional sport to apply it to the England team. That’s thinking outside the box that’s why he’s the man for England 🏴 #BBCNFL

The Patriots, eyeing a record-equalling sixth Super Bowl win, took on the Rams, last winners in 2000 when they were based in St. Louis.
