Beckham’s Miami MLS project is “getting closer”

Making progress

David Beckham may be dipping his toes into the MLS pool sooner rather than later, with the revelation that his Miami team is close to completing a crucial step towards playing its first game.

The club has been working on identifying a suitable stadium for the new franchise ahead of their entry into the USA and Canada’s top league, but progress has been slow.

There has been some progress of late, though, and Beckham – who spent several years in MLS as a player with LA Galaxy – seems upbeat about the future of his new club.

“It’s been frustrating over the last year and a half,” Beckham told Sky Sports.

“Everyone in Miami I think is excited about us bringing a team here and we’re getting closer.

“I’ve always said Miami is a place that’s going to love a team, and they need a team and want a team…hopefully in the next couple of months we’ll be able to make an announcement.”
