It’s been a decent start to the new season for Bournemouth, with Eddie Howe’s side sitting fifth after their first five Premier League games
Their latest outing saw them see off Leicester City 4-2 on Saturday, a result which has prompted their veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to make an incredibly bold claim about his team’s front three of Ryan Fraser, Callum Wilson and Josh King.
Fraser scored twice in the game with King also converting a penalty. Wilson drew a blank, but did score in the Cherries’ first two games of the season, against Cardiff and West Ham.
The former Chelsea and Stoke City goalkeeper believes that after their impressive start to the new campaign, the trio deserve more credit. He even goes as far as saying they’re as good as anyone else in the Premier League – including Liverpool’s Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
“Our front three are as good as anyone in the league,” he said. “We are a very attacking team, we want to attack and score goals.
“They are up there with Liverpool’s front three when they are on form. The way we play suits them. They have a great understanding and long may it continue.”
Bournemouth built up a four-goal lead in the game against Leicester, which also saw Wes Morgan sent off with little over 20 minutes to go. Two late goals – one from a James Maddison penalty, another from Marc Albrighton – made the score appear a little more respectable for Claude Puel’s side.
Bournemouth return to action next Saturday when they travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley, Eddie Howe’s former club.
