The Portuguese playmaker becomes the 12th player to extend their Etihad stay in the past year
Bernardo Silva has been rewarded for his excellent form for Manchester City over the past 18 months with a new contract until 2025.
After struggling to establish himself during his first season in England, the £43m playmaker has now cemented his place as a driving force in Pep Guardiola’s first XI.
Still only 24, Silva has managed to displace his creative predecessor David Silva while making up for Kevin de Bruyne’s injury absence throughout much of the campaign.
Silva joins the likes of Aymeric Laporte, De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling in committing his long-term future to City as the club continue to back Guardiola’s project.
It’s a scary prospect for the champions’ rivals, with the midfield nucleus of the team contributing to a whopping 61 goals so far in 2019.

Along with City’s best young talents, Guardiola has also stated his intention to stay even longer than his current deal which expires in 2021.
