How the past comes back to haunt you.
Sam Allardyce wasn’t wanted at Newcastle. His functional style of football wasn’t what they desired on Tyneside and he was given the boot.
But eight years later Big Sam has come back to haunt his old club in the cruellest way possible.
He took over at ailing North East rivals Sunderland to save them from the drop – and the relegation specialist did just that.
To make matters worse Allardyce got the Black Cat’s out of the sh*t at Newcastle’s expense, sending old foe Rafa Benitez’s side down to the Championship after an inspired 3-0 victory over Everton.
Big Sam was absolutely lapping it up as well and as the final whistle went at the Stadium of Light there were delirious scenes with Sunderland safe and Newcastle down.
We’re not quite sure what the hell he’s doing here, but this truly is vintage Allardyce…
