Borussia Monchengladbach may not be the best team in the Champions League (exhibit A: their 4-0 defeat at Man City on Wednesday night), but their social media team are top when it comes to Twitter #BANTZ.
The Gladbachers (not their nickname, we just made that up), are a dab hand at the old Twitter, and were bringing the #LOLZ all day before and then during their match at the Etihad.
The @borussia_en account replied to the official City account with this before kick off:
ANNOUNCE RAIN
— Gladbach (@borussia_en) September 14, 2016
But as the goals went in for City, Monchengladbach got a bit more desperate:
PLS ANNOUNCE RAIN
— Gladbach (@borussia_en) September 14, 2016
And they weren’t done there. After the match the official Champions League Twitter account put out a summary of the night’s results, but presumably because their graphics department had created the template before they went home, there was no room for the City/Monchengladbach score, which was of course supposed to be played on Tuesday.
Cue the Gladbach social media department wags once again:
They had been at it before the game as well, with this Archer inspired meme in reply to City’s official account.

Good work lads. All that stuff about Germans not having a sense of humour is so… true.
