When Bournemouth defender Adam Smith threw his shirt into the crowd after the club’s defeat at Southampton, the young fan who caught it was made up.
But joy soon turned to sadness as the shirt was snatched from him, leading the boy’s mother to share the story on social media.
Thankfully, though, the player and club caught sight of the message and the youngster’s dreams will come true.
How can I find the mum of the kid? I'll give him another shirt.

Not only did the kid get another shirt from Smith, but he’s been invited to meet the entire Cherries first team.
It’s reminiscent of the fantastic gesture from Preston’s Jermaine Beckford after a Lilywhites fan had the striker’s shirt snatched from him during last season’s play-off final.
It’s no surprise that his father has some words of thanks for former Spurs full-back Smith.
@AdamSmith912 thanks Adam for this as you have made my son very happy as he was distraught after the incident today after the game 😀 🍒🍒🍒
