‘Either of them, it makes no difference to me’

Conor Benn has revealed he would be open to fighting either one of Amir Khan or Kell Brook next year, with the two finally set to go up against each other in 2022.

Benn, who is in action himself against American Chris Algieri tonight (Saturday 11 December) exclusively on DAZN, admitted that the prospect of coming up against either one of the two veteran welterweights is an attractive prospect.

“They’re both calling my name saying they want me after that fight so I will fight the winner. One million per cent,” Benn said as per Boxing News.

“Either of them. It makes no difference to me. They claim they’re the best in Britain. But I beg to differ.”

The 25-year-old had the opprtunity to go up against Khan in his next fight, however Benn insisted that everything always happens for a reason.

He said: “When one door closes another opens.

“I am a fighting man, this is what I do. I train every day to beat people up.

“Whatever is meant for me won’t pass me.”

Tony Bellew has reserved high praise for Benn in the run-up to his fight against experienced American Algieri in Liverpool, but believes he could be in for his biggest test yet.

“The thing that Conor has in his favour is the explosiveness and the youth on his side,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I know I just said Chris looks great, but you can never get it back when it’s gone – that explosiveness, that speed, that enthusiasm that comes with youth.

“Conor has all these things in abundance; you’ll see it on Saturday night.

“I expect Conor to jump all over him, but I’m not going to lie, I also expect Chris to still be there after three or four rounds. And if that’s the case, it’s going to be the toughest fight of Conor’s career so far.”

Benn’s fight forms part of a double-bill of main card action as Katie Taylor looks to continue her unbeaten professional record against Firuza Sharipova.
