Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather is this Sunday but, apparently, the rules still aren’t clear for the bout, according to the influencer
With two celebrity boxing matches in the space of a week – given that the younger Paul brother’s fight with Tyron Woodley has just been announced for this Friday – it seems lots of decisions are being made with little planning being made public.
So much so, in fact, that according to Logan Paul he still doesn’t even know what the rules are for his fight with undefeated boxing veteran, Floyd Mayweather. It’s like five days away, lads…
That’s what he told Brian Davis, a.k.a True Geordie on the latest episode of his podcast uploaded yesterday. You can watch the full thing below; there are all the usual smack talk snippets and discussions people’s opinions on YouTubers and influencers like Paul getting in the ring but when asked what the rules for the fight are, he says, “I don’t know how this is possible but I do not know”.
Going into further detail, Paul explains: “I’m hearing 10oz, 12oz [gloves will be used]. I’m hearing eight rounds, I’m hearing three minutes, I’m hearing two minutes, I don’t f***ing know”.
He goes on to add that, regardless, “We’re prepared for anything. We did a legit proper camp. We’re doing hard sparring rounds, 10-12 rounds, three different guys, we’re ready.” The 26-year-old added that as well as training against smaller, more agile fighters “who can emulate Floyd”, he has also sparred with some “brawlers.”
One of those he says he has trained with is WBA Light-Heavyweight Champion, Jean Pascal, who was set to be on the undercard for the Paul vs Mayweather fight. However, this now looks to be off following Pascal’s failed drug test.
Nevertheless, Logan seems confident he can beat Mayweather despite his incredible record 50 wins in 50 fights. Surprisingly, so too does former fellow professional, Carl Froch, who reckons he’s “got a chance”, at the very least. Even Logan said that he knows “no one expects [him] to win this fight” but that if he does pull it off “it will be the greatest upset in the history of combat sports.”
The bout itself will be broadcast on Sky Sports Box Office around 4am in the UK this Sunday. the 6th of June. The PPV cost £16.95, showing both the undercard and the main event as it unfolds at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
