The biggest names in boxing are finally set to get it on

A two-fight deal has been struck for Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to unify the heavyweight titles, according to reports.

Fury versus Joshua has been in the pipeline since late last year, but the clash was recently thrown into doubt after Fury claimed he was “nowhere near” signing a contract to take on his arch rival.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ also hinted that a third fight with Deontay Wilder was a possibility.

“Don’t write Deontay Wilder off out the equation, he could be fighting me next, who knows?

“I could have a trilogy with Wilder yet. There’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes and Wilder might be next, who knows?”

Despite Fury’s doubts, promoter Frank Warren had said the fight would occur sooner rather than later.

He told talkSPORT: “We’ve all agreed to announce any news simultaneously, so I can’t break a confidence I’ve agreed to.

“But what I can say is that everything is agreed, it’s an imminent announcement and we’ve got to work on a site, and that’s it.”

Now, according to ESPN, a two-fight deal has been signed.

“We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month,” said Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter and director of Matchroom Sports.

Hearn added: “The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper. But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters.”

No official date or venue has yet been agreed, but it is understood that offers have flooded in from sites in the Middle East, Asia, Eastern Europe and America.

The deal is said to have been struck late on Saturday between all relevant parties – Matchroom Boxing, Top Rank, Queensbury and Fury’s management, MTK Global.
