“I don’t know how many fights I’ve got left”
Tyson Fury has hinted that he may retire from boxing, admitting that he isn’t sure if he needs to “fight any more.”
The shocking revelation comes less than a week after the 33-year-old secured an 11th round knockout victory against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas to conclude their trilogy of fights between the two and retain his WBC heavyweight belt.
But now, the ‘Gypsy King’ has cast doubt over whether we will see him in the ring again, even though Fury does have a fight against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte to face following his victory last weekend.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Fury stated that he wasn’t sure what was to come in the future and refused to say if he would go on to continue his unbeaten career.
He said: “I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“I’ve got one fight left on my contract with Top Rank and ESPN and we’ll see what that is.
“But I’m not thinking about boxing right now. I don’t know how many fights I’ve got left.
“I don’t know if I need to fight anymore. I don’t know what the future holds.”
Fury went on to reiterate that there was no overriding reason for why he is considering retirement, but suggested that he had completed all the achievements he set out for himself.
“I am motivated to get up in the morning, do a little bit of training, and enjoy my day,” he said.
“I don’t have any goals in boxing, I have done everything and won everything, the only one to do it in my era.
“I will always have been the WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, Ring magazine champion, that will not evaporate in history, but once it is done, it is done and you cannot get it back.
“Once you are done, it doesn’t matter how many belts you have, who you beat, what your record is. You are just another bare bum in the shower and I have always had that opinion.”
