Anton Rodgers will join up with his father this summer for Celtic’s pre-season preparations.
The 24-year-old remains without a club after his contract with Swindon expired this year and his presence with the Hoops squad is not to suggest that he is to be signed by Brendan Rodgers in the transfer window.
It’s been suggested by the Daily Record that Rodgers, who used to play for Chelsea’s youth team, is simply hoping to maintain his fitness levels with the Celtic players and his dad was only too happy to provide him with the opportunity to do so.
The midfielder boarded an Austria-bound flight on Monday morning alongside the likes of Moussa Dembele and Celtic’s only signing so far this summer, Jonny Hayes, but it’s not believed that he will be on the Scottish champions’ books next season.
Rodgers is instead hopeful of securing a deal with an English club this summer.
Celtic are set to take on BW Linz, Rapid Vienna and Slavia Prague throughout their mini-European tour before they meet Linfield in Belfast on July 14 in their Champions League qualifier.
