Brendan Rodgers didn’t disappoint when it came to paying tribute to Steven Gerrard ahead of the Liverpool captain’s last game at Anfield.
The man responsible for gems such as “I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope”, told a packed press conference:
“I asked a lot of my staff to describe Steven in one word and I’d use the word ‘Liverpool’.
“What Steven has given to this city, politicians haven’t given. He’s a wonderful symbol for the people and he’s very much about looking after his people.”
In other news, a new David Brent mockumentary has been announced this week.
