Wrighty was having none of it.
It is fair to say that the BT Sport studio for Arsenal’s game with Lincoln on Saturday evening boasted more than its a fair share of goal-poachers. Anchor Jake Humphrey shared the stage with Michael Owen (163 goals in 362 club appearances), Chris Sutton (193 goals in 409 club appearances) and Ian Wright (239 goals in 501 club appearances).
Although all three are now outspoken pundits in their own way, Wright puts the other two in the shade when it comes to charisma and enthusiasm. He has more personality and on-screen magnetism than both of his colleagues combined. That was evident when Humphrey read out the seemingly innocuous question of who had the better left foot of the three.
The former Arsenal man pounced instantly – like a fox in the box – with no time for false modesty:
“Me. Me – don’t even ask those two,” he responded. When Sutton tried to be magnanimous, he was quickly interrupted by the legendary Gunner. “How many chips did you score with your left foot? How many? I don’t even remember doing it. I don’t even remember what foot I used, I’m so good. You can’t get into that party bro.”
Both Sutton and a dumbfounded Owen looked suitably chastised. There’s really no arguing with that.
Who had the better left foot? @IanWright0 is claiming this one! ☝️ #FACupTonight https://t.co/GbgHvO7J9G

And in fairness, whilst the other two were great poachers, they couldn’t match Wrighty’s flair in his heyday…
