A heartwarming gesture.
Bristol City player Joe Bryan has offered to cover the costs of a non-league player’s physiotherapy as he recovers from a horrific injury.
Self-employed builder Chris Corner suffered a gruesome double leg break while playing for Nailsea & Tickenham FC against Uphill Castle back in November.
Corner is now unable to work for several months and the sad situation struck a chord with Bryan. Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol he explained: “[He’s] a fellow footballer, I know he’s self-employed, Christmas is coming up, I don’t want you not to get a Christmas present.”
Bryan was able to reach out to Corner through a physio at Bristol City who also plays for the 11th tier side.
“I’ve had a far less serious one and I know the psychological pain that you go through,” Bryan said.
Setbacks as severe as this can be very challenging to come back from not only physically but mentally as well, especially for someone in Corner’s line of work.
Nailsea & Tickenham have thanked Bryan for the “amazing gesture.”
A club statement reads: “A fantastic gesture from a top professional, looking out for a local player during a difficult time – Joe is a credit to Bristol City FC.”
