WATCH: Marcelo Brozovic lies flat on the floor to deny Luis Suarez’s under-the-wall free-kick

Free-kick, edge of the area.

The kind you just know Andy Townsend would tell Clive Tyldesley is too close to get up, over the wall and down again.

Luis Suarez knows this all too well. So, with Barcelona looking to double their lead against Inter Milan on Wednesday night, he didn’t even try and go over the wall. Nope, he anticipated their jump, and struck the ball under it instead.

Thankfully from an Inter perspective, Marcelo Brozovic sensed what was coming.

As the Barca number nine starts his run up, the Croatian flings himself to ground, lying flat across the ground to block the in-coming shot. It works a treat, the ball skimming off his hip and looping behind for a corner.

A piece of improvisation we can all admire, and also one which Lionel Messi – watching from the stands with his arm in a sling after breaking his radial bone at the weekend – also seemed to find amusing.

Unfortunately for Inter, Brozovic’s quick thinking wasn’t enough to stop Barca claiming victory. Already a goal to the good up at this point thanks to Rafinha’s first-half opener, the lead was doubled close to the end through Jordi Alba.

Barcelona’s win means they maintain their 100% start to this season’s European campaign having already beaten PSV Eindhoven and Toettenham Hotspur in their opening two Champions League games.
