Chelsea players were reportedly involved in a training ground bust-up on Jose Mourinho’s penultimate day as manager.
According to a report in The Times, the incident took place during a training session on Wednesday involving both senior and academy players and was sparked by a ‘strong but fair’ challenge from Cesc Fabregas on one of the club’s Under 21 players.
Fabregas’ tackle is said to have provoked a ‘physical reaction’ from the youngster, causing several other players to join in. The flare-up was later broken up by members of the club’s coaching staff before the training session resumed.
It is unclear if Jose Mourinho was involved in the incident but the report claims that there was a mixed reaction amongst the squad members to the news of his dismissal.
While it’s claimed that some of the senior members of the first team squad feel that his man management skills have deteriorated, it hasn’t prevented the likes of Fabregas from paying tribute to him.
