Back in autumn, when news started to surface that Jamie Vardy’s rise from non-league to record-breaking Premier League striker could be the subject of a Hollywood film, oh, how we all laughed.
It was a matter of time, or so we thought, before the Leicester bubble burst, and all this talk silly of Zac Efron being cast to play the former Stocksbridge Park Steels man would soon become a distant memory.
But if there’s one thing that we’ve all learned from Vardy et al in recent months, it’s that anything is possible.
Efron is yet to be confirmed as the on-screen Vardy, but one of his Leicester teammates is starting to think about who he’d like to see represent himself on the big screen.
Christian Fuchs, who recently revealed he’d fancy a stint as an NFL kicker when he calls time on his (real) football career, was speaking on talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show this week, and identified Ryan Reynolds as the perfect man for the job.
“There are pictures all over the web of me and Ryan Reynolds – we’re kind of lookalikes,” he explained.

“I can live with that!”
Maybe he’s got a point.
And who knows? After the the Deadpool star’s supposed cameo in a recent promotional advert with Manchester United (we’re not convinved it was actually him beneath the mask) perhaps Reynold’s is happy enough to venture into the world of football related film?
