Conor McGregor has no plans to pack it in any time soon.
No one is really sure what the Notorious’ big left-field announcement at UFC 205 will be, but the Notorious is doing his utmost to keep the combat sports world guessing.
From the amount of times the issue was brought up during the official UFC 205 media conference call on Thursday, it’s clear that he’s got the MMA community eating out of his hand. Everyone wants to know what it’s going to be, and he’s enjoying the hell out of keeping it to himself.
When asked whether the rumours perpetuated by some tabloid publications that his plan was to retire from the sport were true, McGregor took aim at the reporter for even posing such a ridiculous question.
“You’re absolutely crazy (for) even mentioning a click bait crowd like that. I mean, the Irish Mirror, what the fuck is that? Who even is that? They don’t know shit about me or what I’m doing.”

After criticising the publication for teasing their content, McGregor went on to tease his own, explaining that his plan is still to drop the news on fight night.
“Look, stay tuned to what I’m announcing but, don’t be listening to people like that. People like that know nothing about what is going on here. My plan… I’ll reveal all in time.”
“I don’t know whether you can take time off with this life. I just stay working, stay creating history. Ya know, stay changing the game. That’s what I’ve been doing since day one.”
As is inevitable with any media work involving McGregor, discussion changed to his favourite subject matter – numbers. By the sounds of it, he’s enjoying racking up those insane numbers too much to walk away from the sport while he’s at the peak of his powers.
“Now, here we are, close to the New York debut; Madison Square Garden. We broke the Ali vs. Frazier attendance of 21,000 I believe, I’m hearing that. We broke the gate record of $14 million set by Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield. So they’re two amazing contests, two historical fights, and I’ve broke them both so. It’s an honour to do that, and that’s it.”
“I’ll just continue changing the game, continue breaking records, continue striving to put this game on the next level like I have been doing from day one. That’s my plans.”
