Conor McGregor has identified who he wants after Floyd Mayweather payday/fight

Post-August plans

In case you hadn’t heard, Conor McGregor is fighting Floyd Mayweather on 26 August.

It will be the biggest fight of all time, or close to it anyway and, wherever you stand on the contest’s credibility, you can’t deny that it will be one hell of a spectacle knowing that both McGregor and Mayweather will be facing off.

After that, though, normality should resume and ‘The Notorious’ will likely return to the UFC to defend his lightweight title.

The number one contender seemed likely to be Tony Ferguson after Khabib Nurmagomedov dropped out of an interim title fight with ‘El Cucuy’ back in March.

That doesn’t look likely anymore, according to MMAJunkie, the fight will be booked at some stage but McGregor is apparently looking to fight Nurmagomedov in Russia, the homeland of the 28-year-old.

UFC President Dana White was speaking to the website and revealed McGregor’s plans.

“You know what Conor told me? He said, ‘I want Khabib in Russia!'” White said.

“Isn’t he (expletive) awesome? He’s like, ‘I want Khabib, in Russia.’ He’s awesome. Conor McGregor is a (expletive) unicorn. There’s nothing like him. He’s working on boxing Floyd Mayweather and then he’s talking about fighting Khabib in Russia right after.”

The two fighters have some history between them with a video released showing them clashing backstage before UFC 205.

The Russian also posted to Twitter showing that he direct messaged the Irishman back in November looking for a title fight.
