Details emerge of Conor McGregor’s second press conference with Khabib

The first one was so much fun that they’ve booked the same crew in again for Round Two.

The UFC has confirmed the details of UFC 229’s fight week and there is another press conference to look forward to.

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov faced off in New York, last week, for the first time since the Barclays Center bus attack and there were a number of memorable moments.

  • McGregor pulling out his best line in over a year
  • Ali Abdelaziz getting a belt rise out of ‘The Notorious’
  • McGregor claiming Khabib would be dead (and he’d be in a cell) if he had got off the bus
  • ‘An bhfuil cead agam go dtí an leithreas’
  • A slew of free publicity for McGregor’s new whiskey
  • Some lad from West Cork getting on the microphone and boasting about being up until 4am

It was, at times, grim and, at times, compelling. And… we want more.

UFC president Dana White is shelling out big fight purses for the main event stars so he is only too happy to oblige.

There will be open work-outs at the Park Theater [sic] in Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 3. That will feature McGregor, Nurmagomedov and former lightweight and interim lightweight champions Anthony Pettis and Tony Ferguson.

Thursday, October 4 will be the second UFC 229 press conference (3pm local time, 11pm GMT) with only McGregor and Nurmagomedov fronting that one. Ferguson and Pettis must do their media duties back-stage. More importantly, these events are open to the public.

Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting had a few more details of the event timings at the Park Theater (formerly the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas).

There will also be ceremonial weigh-ins at the T-Mobile Arena on Friday, October 5, just over 24 hours from the lightweight title fight at the same venue.

For fight fans heading to Vegas, get planning your week now.
