Conor McGregor isn’t exactly known for his modesty, so his comments about Floyd Mayweather won’t surprise too many.
When asked how he’d get on in a scrap with one of the most successful boxers of all time, the Irishman gave a typically self assured response…
“I don’t look at a man who’s expert in one area as a specialist,” McGregor told Esquire. “I look at him as a rookie in ten other areas. If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather—pound-for-pound boxing’s best—if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than thirty seconds. It would take me less than thirty seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him.”
Unfortunately, Mayweather plans to retire in Autumn following his eagerly anticipated bout with Manny Pacquiao. This means, as intriguing as it would be, McGregor won’t get the opportunity to back up such confident words.
The Notorious does, of course, have other things on his mind. He takes on Jose Aldo in July’s UFC 189 for the 145lb title.
