Conor McGregor has gone from not having a pot to p*ss in to having robot butlers serve him drinks Rocky III-style.
His spectacular 13-second knockout of previously undefeated featherweight Jose Aldo at UFC 194 has lined the Notorious up to reach unprecedented levels of earnings by a UFC fighter, according to Lorenzo Fertitta.
The UFC chairman and CEO predicted McGregor would become “our first $100 millionaire,” according to ESPN.
By way of comparison, the UFC were paid an estimated $70 million for their “landmark” sponsorship deal with Reebok that produced some of the most ridiculous attire known to man.
Fertitta said that number, which McGregor will reach if he continues to dominate the sport, would be from fight earnings, bonuses and pay-per-view revenue and would exclude outside income from the likes of Monster and movie roles which are reportedly in the works.
The Nevada Athletic Commission disclosed that McGregor was paid $500,000 for the fight against Aldo, $40,000 from Reebok and a $50,000 bonus from the UFC for the performance of the night. He’ll also get a slice of the sweet, sweet PPV pie which is expected to exceed one million buys.
