It has finally been confirmed that Conor McGregor will face UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 197.

The pair will face off for the lightweight championship on March 5 in Las Vegas as The Notorious looks to become the first dual champion in the history of the UFC.

The rumoured blockbuster event had caused massive excitement in fighting circles, and the UFC finally confirmed on Tuesday night that not only will March’s event feature the McGregor/Dos Anjos fight, but it will also see women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm enter the octagon for the first time since she defeated Ronda Rousey.

Holm will look to defend her title against Miesha Tate.

Fans were worried that the fight may not go ahead after the initial rumours were not followed immediately by an official confirmation.

McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, shared his relief about the ‘secret’ finally being out.

Roll on March 5.
