For just over an hour, things were going swimmingly for Crystal Palace.
Winless in the league since last year, Alan Pardew’s side led through Joe Ledley and were playing the final quarter of the game against 10 men after James Milner’s red card.
But then disaster struck. Alex McCarthy gifted the Reds a goal when he slipped while attempting to clear the ball.
Then, with the clock ticking towards 94 minutes, Christian Benteke went down under pressure from Damien Delaney and referee Andre Marriner pointed to the penalty spot.
The Belgian scored, and Palace’s long winless run continued.
Palace fans were dumbfounded

As painful as it is to say Delany was stupid to go to ground. Any sort of contract and it's penalty, especially against Liverpool.

Even neutrals had no idea why the spot-kick was given
