Michael Bisping vs Dan Henderson II looks like it’s actually going to happen.
It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but middleweight champion Michael Bisping’s first defence against 45-year-old Dan Henderson is in the works for a Manchester-based event.
Dana White revealed that was the next fight the UFC were targeting for the Count during the post-UFC 200 show on Fox Sports 1. No official date or venue has been set, but El Presidente explained that Manchester, Bisping’s home, is the location they are pushing for.
The bout will mark Bisping’s first defence since he knocked out Luke Rockhold in one round at UFC 199 to claim the middleweight belt, which followed his impressive decision win over living legend Anderson Silva at UFC London.
Henderson enters into this bout off the back of a superb knockout victory over Hector Lombard. Hendo had lost six of his eight previous bouts going into that fight and hinted that it may have been his last ever fight during his Octagon interview on the night.
However, it looks like the combat sports icon will get the opportunity to go out on the highest possible note – one last shot at the one belt that has eluded him throughout his entire career against a man he has already knocked out in devastating fashion.
You can’t make this stuff up.
