Ctrl+C…Ctrl+V – Dana White’s promises should be taken with a grain of salt.
It’s become quite common for the UFC president to say something on a whim and then, all of a sudden, have his claims proven false just days later.
And, on this occasion, it’s Liverpool welterweight Darren Till who has seen his hopes of a huge fight in his homeland next February dashed.
Last week, White claimed that he had decided to move the February 24 event from Orlando to England to allow for Till to take on Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.

Fresh from his knockout victory over Donald Cerrone, Till’s stock is sky high and he was seemingly being rewarded for the performance of his career with a first-ever bout on British shores after White had proclaimed him “the future”.
Thompson’s camp quickly moved to deny suggestions that the fight was a done deal and now, mere days after fans’ excitement was triggered, White has rowed back on his claims.
Lance Pugmire of the LA Times, who initially broke last week’s story, has provided an unwelcome update from the UFC.
Some updates from @ufc … Feb. 24 is definitely on for Orlando. Main event is TBA…and while the desire is to place @darrentill2 in Liverpool next (date TBA), “Wonderboy” Thompson sidelined by UFC 217 injury.

It turns out that Orlando will indeed host the UFC on Fox 28 card and an injury to ‘Wonderboy’ means he probably won’t be Till’s next opponent at all.

Meanwhile, the Walton-born 170lber has quickly returned to work looking for a new fight.
They say I don’t deserve the top name fights, come and prove why I don’t deserve to fight you then… 🦍
