Daniel Sturridge was left out of Liverpool’s draw with Spurs due to a knee problem

Much has been said in the last year about how differently Liverpool’s fortunes might have been had Daniel Sturridge remained fit.

Having recently returned from the long absence that saw him miss the start of the season, Sturridge was a surprise absence for Jurgen Klopp’s first game in charge of Liverpool in the 0-0 draw away at Spurs.

Now, it appears that the England forward’s latest injury is a concern with his knee.

According to Sky Sports, Sturridge travelled to London with the rest of the team but it was decided that he should not be risked in the early afternoon kick off.

The news comes in the same week that Joe Gomez and Danny Ings were ruled out with long-term knee injuries.

Although it doesn’t appear to be as serious as the injuries picked up by his team mates, knee injuries are typically very complicated to treat.

Sturridge spending more time on the sidelines will clearly be a blow to Liverpool and their new manager.
