Darren Till targets massive fight at Anfield after keeping undefeated record intact

Darren Till can never be accused of lacking in ambition.

Fresh from his razor-close unanimous decision victory over Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson on Sunday night in his native Liverpool, Till opened up about what’s next for him as he soars up the welterweight rankings.

The undefeated Scouser moved to 17-0-1 by squeaking past Thompson in a highly technical and tentative striking battle.

And after he got his hand raised in front of his adoring fans, ‘The Gorilla’ revealed what he wants next.

“We’ll see. I want to bring it to Anfield,” Till said.

“America is amazing, I’ve never fought there but that’s where the pay-per-views are in Las Vegas and Madison Square Garden.

“Why can’t I be the guy to bring the UFC to a stadium here in England, here in Liverpool? Why can’t I do that? Who’s telling me I can’t? It doesn’t matter who you are. I’ll say: ‘Fuck you!’

“I don’t care. To me, I want a stadium event to happen, a pay-per-view at Anfield.

“I’ve had the dream of the Echo Arena, that’s been done now. Now it’s Anfield. Dana’s the boss but manifestation… That’s what it’s all about.”

UFC President Dana White, who has previously labelled Till ‘The Future’, has other ideas, however, as he is eager to introduce the Liverpool 170lber to the American market.

As he addressed the media, White admitted that Las Vegas is almost certainly the next destination for Till because it’s in Sin City that pay-per-view superstars are made.

“I’m not going to refuse Vegas,” Till continued. “If Dana says: ‘Darren, you’re fighting in Vegas soon!’ OK.

“I’ll try to convince him and tell him to believe in me the way I believe in myself. Yeah, 10,000 might travel over to Vegas but 65,000 will fill Anfield and, with seats, maybe more. I know I can fill that shit out, trust me!”
