With everyone getting caught up in the emotion of Euro 2016 qualification, one man’s contribution to this incredible journey could have fallen into the backdrop of this most momentous of Welsh nights.
Yes Chris Coleman will go down in history as the man who guided Wales to their first major finals in more than half a century.
But the late Gary Speed was one of the men who sewed the seeds of this proud moment in Welsh football.
Wales have become a force in football with players Like Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey – now 8th in the FIFA rankings and only losing one of their last nine qualifying games – and many credit Speed for sparking the revolution.
It has been four years since the death of the former national manager. But his mark on this Welsh side, brimming with young talent and youthful energy, cannot and will not be forgotten.
And among the joyous celebrations of Coleman, Bale and the Welsh nation, it has not.
David Beckham was among those to pay tribute to Gary Speed’s legacy on an emotional night.
