Never a dull moment. Never a good moment.
Randy Lerner’s Aston Villa tenure has hit a new low. After a succession of new lows.
Club director, David Bernstein, has resigned with immediate effect after all of five weeks in the job.
The former FA chairman was brought in to assist with a new football board at the club but wrote in his resignation letter that “it has proved impossible to implement the new structure.”

Mervyn King has also left his post, and he highlighted the relationship between Randy Lerner and the football board as a reason for his decision to quit.

All this comes two days after Villa were officially relegated to the Championship.
It has been one circus act after another at the club. The appointments of the like of David Bernstein and Adrian Bevington were hardly ushering in a joyous new era for the supporters but now they can’t even keep hold of some of these appointments.

From the outside, not many people have a clue what is going on.
Stan Collymore, for one, has gotten fed up so much that he was calling out and taking the piss out of Joleon Lescott in equal measures.

But he has since stepped it up a gear and offered his services to Randy Lerner. And he’s putting it all on the line too.
In his Boyle Sports column, the Aston Villa fan and former player has laid the challenge down for the owner.
“Give me 12 months to report on players and find the gems and the characters to take Villa forward.
“Give me 12 months at Bodymoor to be a player liaison, to get into them, to cuddle, bollock and help them settle and understand our great club.
“Give me 12 months to meet the parents and guardians of the local kid that’s wavering between Villa or Albion, and I’ll persuade them B6 is for them.”
Let’s see how Lerner responds.
