David Haye has told Tony Bellew to “get on the list” after the Liverpudlian boxer called him out on Sunday night.
Bellew took the vacant WBC cruiserweight belt after beating Junior Makabu at Goodison Park, after which he dismissed former unified cruiserweight champion Haye as a “Bermondsey bitch”.
After congratulating the 33-year-old on his title win, Haye proceeded to lay down a challenge to his compatriot.
Haye’s next fight will come against former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, after the pair won their respective fights at the O2 earlier this month, and seems to be building up to a 2017 bout against Anthony Joshua.
But the South London heavyweight has laid down a challenge to Bellew after that…if ‘Bomber’ wants to rise to it.
“Maybe that punch you took in the first round that dropped you, your brain got scrambled because it looks like you really want to get knocked out calling me a Bermondsey bitch, talking about knocking me out,” Haye said in a video posted to his Instagram account.
“After I’ve knocked out Shannon Briggs, who’s been giving it a lot of that himself, you want to be on the list too?
“I’m knocking out all people talking too much, so get on the list mate, you’re going to get smashed to bits. I used to be a cruiserweight so we’re both the same height, both similar size, so let’s do it if you want it.”
