David Silva is a “doubt” for the Manchester derby

Something tells us he'll recover in time

Manchester United’s most important midfielder won’t be available for the game against Manchester City on Sunday at Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba is suspended after receiving a red card for standing on Hector Bellerin during United’s 3-1 win over Arsenal last Saturday. And now there’s a chance that City’s best midfielder, other than the incredible Kevin de Bruyne, won’t be available for the game.

Pep Guardiola said on Tuesday afternoon that David Silva is a doubt for the match.

Silva hasn’t travelled to Ukraine for City’s final Champions League group tie against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

The Spanish midfielder scored the winner against West Ham on Sunday, and Guardiola has said his player had “a little problem” after the game and he’s unsure if he’ll be available for the derby match.

Silva has started all but one of City’s Premier League games this season, and the smart money would be on him being available for the United match on Sunday.

Even if he’s not back for the match, Guardiola’s side have an eight point advantage over United in second place, and have played such brilliant football this season, you would have to imagine they will be able to cope with his loss, despite Silva’s excellent form.
