Defender requires 10 stitches to penis after kick from teammate

Well that doesn't sound pleasant

Is there any way to forgive a teammate after that?

Mariano Bittolo has definitely had better days than Saturday, when he suffered the kind of injury that will make every man reading this story wince.

When Albacete were held to a goalless draw at home to Huesca in Spain’s second tier this weekend, Bittolo sustained what might be the worst injury of the year.

After an accidental kick from teammate Roman Zozulya while the hosts were defending a corner, Bittolo was kicked below the belt and immediately hit the deck.

The Albacete full back knew straight away that there was a problem and motioned for the medical team, who had no choice but to tell the manager to replace Bittolo with eight minutes of play remaining.

Club doctor Eduardo Rodriguez told Spanish outlet Marca that Bittolo required ten stitches to his penis because of the injury.

But, remarkably, the player is not expected to miss any games.

We saw Petr Cech turn to the scrum cap and never look back after sustaining a head injury against Reading more than a decade ago. And we would not blame Bittolo if he decides to put his faith in a protective cup from here on out.
