Derby County are advertising a new analysis vacancy, as they look for a new ‘Data Integration Architect’ to improve the team’s pre-match preparation.
While the vacancy was posted to Derby’s website shortly before ‘spygate’, Leeds United fans are enjoying the timing of the two events.

The spygate scandal involved Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa sending a member of his staff down to spy on Derby’s training session. It’s a storm in a teapot, but it has annoyed a huge number of people across the country, particularly Frank Lampard.
Bielsa called an impromptu press conference on Thursday in which he demonstrated to a room of journalists the astonishing level of detailed analysis that he has on every other team in the Championship.
He also admitted that it’s not just Derby – he does it to everyone.
The job advert states that: “This is both a strategic and operational role, taking the lead on data architecture, management, development and maintenance, and related internal and external data sets. You will be working across all departments and stakeholders to ensure databases are effectively integrated within the business, and to ultimately ensure the Club’s data footprint continuously evolves.”
Notably, the list of responsibilities does not include ‘using binoculars to watch opponents train from a distant tree’. But it does include: ‘To constantly innovate and ‘think outside of the box’ on ideas to improve the Database, data, and information across the business.’
In other Derby County related news, they look set to sign Ashley Cole on a short-term deal that would see the 38-year-old reunite with his former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard. Cole has reportedly agreed a £15,000 a week deal with the Championship club.
