Didier Drogba’s deadly MLS hattrick at 38 proves that class is definitely permanent

He is still absolutely lethal...

You’re never too old to bang in a classy hattrick – well, if you’re Didier Drogba that is.

The Chelsea legend is still absolutely red hot in front of goal even at the ripe old age of 38.

His legs might not be the same as in his Stamford Bridge prime, but even the slightest sniff of goal and he’s in.

The Ivorian bagged his second MLS hattrick in the 5-1 thrashing of Philadelphia Union for his current club Montreal Impact. His first came last season against Chicago Fire.

It was a vintage goal-scoring performance by the veteran striker as he ghosted in unmarked to finish at the backpost for his first after a clever one-two in the build up.

He was wide open for the rebound after Ignacio Piatti’s shot was parried and then the Argentine slotted a lovely ball through to Drogba for his third, which he hit straight off the bat.

Montreal’s kit might look like something a British pub team might wear on a Sunday morning, but Drogba makes it look good…
