Although you’d never guess it from his permanently furrowed brow, Diego Costa is reportedly unhappy at Chelsea.
After a blistering, goal-laden first season at Stamford Bridge, the Spanish/Brazilian has striker hasn’t quite hit the same heights this season, spending each game trying to kick off with just about anyone he can kick off with.
According to a number of reports, Costa wants out at the end of the season, despite the announcement that Antonio Conte is set to take over as Chelsea boss.
The Telegraph claim that a return to Atletico Madrid is an option, with the 27-year-old’s former club making their interest known to Chelsea.
However, the Spanish side are also unsure whether they’d be able to stump up the kind of fee Chelsea would expect to receive for Costa, leaving the door ajar for others to snap him up.
Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint-Germain are also sniffing around, but it seems that a move to China is also a viable option for the angriest man in the Premier League – with the Chinese Super League signalling their willingness to splash out over £70m to take him to Asia.
Costa’s could also expect to see the his current wage of a mere £185,000 a week more than doubled if he were to head to China.
Chelsea are expected to spend big this summer in a bid to rejuvenate a squad that has badly underachieved this season. If Costa is to leave, it will be in the club’s best interest to push him towards China so that the potentially huge fee they receive for him can help fund their own transfer aspirations.
