Disgruntled Jose Aldo reveals what Dana White told him in private Fighters’ Union talks

Spilling the beans.

Jose Aldo appears to be trying his utmost to hammer that final nail into the coffin of his relationship with the UFC.

The former featherweight champion requested a contract termination from the promotion after being refused the opportunity to exact revenge on Conor McGregor.

He claims he’s done with fighting, wants to focus on other career opportunities, and not even a Red Panty Night offer would change his mind. If the UFC try to refuse him his wish, he’s willing to take the matter to court and if that doesn’t work, he hinted that he would be willing to intentionally lose fights to see out the end of his contract.

It looks like he’s burned his bridges with the promotion and he’s ready to relieve himself all over the ashes.

A by-product of Aldo being pissed off at the promotion is that the normally quiet and reserved fighter has been doing a lot of talking. This time his topic of choice was the hot topic of UFC fighters forming a union.

He told MMA Fighting recently that Dana White advised him to stop being so vocal about the Fighters Union, for the benefit of his wallet. While Aldo pushed for a union to improve the conditions for his compatriots in the promotion, White told him he would “get a bigger slice” if he kept quiet.

“Not only now that I’m the one being affected, but I always talked about it and defended better things for Brazilian athletes. In a conversation, Dana himself came and told me not to take anyone’s sides because the cake would be split the same for everyone, but I could get a bigger slice if I stayed quiet.”

Aldo believes a union would benefit fighters across the board, but the selfish pursuits of some of his colleagues may be hindering this from actually happening.

“We should have that (privileges) a long time ago already. Pepper in other’s ass is refreshment. When everyone can talk, nobody does, but when you feel it yourself… I think our class is disorganised, disunited. If we were more united, it would be better, for sure. Nobody would do what they want with us. Today, they pay two, five, 10 thousand to fight in the UFC. This class is fucking disunited. It would be completely different for Brazilians if we were more united, not only in MMA.”

In case you were wondering, the ‘pepper in the ass’ being a refreshment line is apparently a Brazilian idiom that means not caring about something because it doesn’t directly affect you.
