Joleon Lescott has had a rough time of it lately.
Results haven’t been great for Aston Villa, and following a home thrashing by Liverpool, the defender was heavily criticised for tweeting a picture of what appeared to be his new set of wheels.
Lescott apologised quickly, and explained that the tweet had been sent out accidentally, while his phone was in his pocket. Not everyone was convinved.
A couple of weeks on, and Lescott and his Villa teammates took a trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke.
The former England international was the subject of the odd mischievous chant from the home support, as documented by this tweet from Stoke’s official twitter account.
21- '@JoleonLescott he's got a new car' is the chant from the Villa fans in the away end #SCFC 0-0 #AVFC

But it wasn’t just Stoke’s supporters poking fun at Lescott. Their twitter account followed up the earlier tweet with this one…
Apologies for that tweet, it was sent from our pocket 😉
