Everton may be suffering a mixed season, but it’s gestures like these that keep the fans on side.
Wednesday night’s trip to the Etihad saw the Toffees pick up a point after a 0-0 draw, but some Everton fans didn’t get to see most of the game.
Major traffic problems around the stadium mean that many travelling fans ‘missed a significant proportion of the game’ according to the Merseyside club, with even the players arriving behind schedule.

For reasons that are not clear, it was not possible to delay the kick off to allow supporters more time to get to the stadium.
Fans probably thought that they had wasted their money on a ticket to a match they only saw half of, but Everton are hoping to make sure everybody gets their money’s worth.
The club have announced that they will be giving free tickets for January 27’s Capital One Cup second leg against City – which will also be played at the Etihad – to anyone who bought a ticket for Wednesday’s Premier League match.
