He might create a headline or two for the wrong reasons, but Diego Costa’s performance against Paris Saint-Germain reminded us what a bloody good football player he is.
Having drawn Chelsea level on the night with a brilliant equaliser, Costa was withdrawn just short of the hour mark with an injury.
Understandably, losing their largest attacking threat took the wind out of Chelsea’s sails, but for supporters of Everton, news of Costa’s injury was a bonus.
Of course, no football fan likes to see a player injured, but with their FA Cup quarter final with Chelsea looming Everton’s fans were well aware that their chances of progressing to the semis had just received a significant boost.
Hopefully that's Diego Costa missing Saturday.
