Fair play to Pep Guardiola. He’s certainly not arsing around when it comes to bringing new players to the Etihad.
The capture of teenage Colombian Marlos Moreno from Atletico Nacional is the third new signing made by Manchester City in a week. Impressive, but not half as impressive as the fact they’ve only paid £4.75m for the player in a transfer window when a blindfolded Paul Konchesky would cost at least £35m.
We’ll be honest, we don’t know an awful lot about young Marlos, but we can tell you that he’s done enough to warrant one of those YouTube best bit videos – complete with annoying dance music.

While many describe him as a forward, many have drawn plenty of attention to the fact that Moreno has also played plenty of games as a winger.
Why is this such a big deal? Well, as many have spotted, City aren’t exactly light of options in the wide areas. Fellow new signings Leroy Sane – who can also play up top – has also been deployed on the wing at Schalke. Christman nativity-sounding Gabriel Jesus, City’s other new arrival, has also spent most of his career to date in a wide position.
Added to this, Guardiola can also call on the likes of Nolito, Jesus Navas and Raheem Sterling to occupy the wingers’ positions in his City teams.
With many expecting the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss to strengthen his new side’s defence, the influx of wingers has surprised many…
Marlos Moreno, eh? Loves a winger, does Pep. That's 39 of them in City's first team squad.

Manchester City have spent fortunes on Jesus and Sane in the last two days, two wingers. Obviously no future plans for Roberts!

The year is 2020…Manchester City have started the game with 11 Wingers.

And that's Marlos Moreno to Manchester City. Pretty certain Pep wants a monopoly on wingers.

Why are Man. City loading themselves up with wingers, when their defence is shambolic?

Guardiola want to sign anyone that not a forward/winger..?! 🤔

Not that we’re in a position to question what is going on inside the shiny head of one of world football’s greatest ever managers, but it does seem that this City squad are saturated with wingers. We can’t wait to see how they line up.
