Sergio Aguero has been the talk of Manchester ever since he appeared to throw an elbow at Winston Reid’s face on Sunday.
Manchester City beat West Ham 3-1 but 15 minutes before the end of the match there was controversy when Aguero got into a tussle with Hammers defender Reid and appeared to elbow him in the throat.
Referee Andre Marriner apparently didn’t see the incident and took no action, but speculation immediately started as to whether the Football Association would look to punish Aguero retrospectively.
If so, it could mean a match ban – which could mean that City’s No 1 goal-getter would miss their next match: the Manchester derby.
This year the derby comes with the added spice of Pep Guardiola vs Jose Mourinho, who took charge of City and United respectively this summer, and have a rivalry every inch as bitter as the one enjoyed by fans of the two clubs.
And from another angle.
But amid all the talk of a possible ban for Aguero, could he miss the match anyway?
Pasion Monumental journalist Hernan Castillo claims Aguero did not travel to Buenos Aires for Argentina’s games against Uruguay and Venezuela because of an injury.
Aguero no viene a jugar los partidos de la selección. Terminó lesionado y no viajó desde Inglaterra a Bs As.

The Argentine FA then confirmed the news, adding that Aguero was suffering from a calf injury and would miss both their international matches.
There is no word on whether he will be fit for the derby match on September 10th.
And the fact the Argentine FA have revealed it is a calf problem means these theories on Twitter are not quite right…
