Harry Kane had a nightmare from the penalty spot during Tottenham’s Premier League trip to Southampton.
The England striker sent the ball into orbit (with the help of a divot) after Nathan Redmond was penalised for a foul on Dele Alli, for which the Saints winger was sent off.
It was a shocking spot-kick, just minutes after a fine header from Kane found the top corner of Fraser Forster’s net to give Spurs the lead.
That's the worst pen since we gave one to Sissoko to sign a contract

Now, you may remember that Tottenham signed an agreement last year to host American Football matches at their new stadium, once it opens.
You may also remember that NFL kickers aim to hit that sweet spot over the bar and between the posts.
So, knowing both of those things, and then seeing Kane do something more suited to that other sport, might lead people to make a certain comment.
You know, something like this.
Harry Kane should tryout to be an NFL kicker @JoeHollenbach

Or this.

Perhaps you’ll mix things up and go down this route.
And Harry Kane just auditioned for and NFL team as a field goal kicker! #SOUTOT

Alternatively, this might be the sort of thing that comes to mind.

No? How about this?

Yeah, you’re right, this is much better.

Even if you don’t tweet in English, that shouldn’t hold you back. Here’s the same joke in Portuguese.

And Norwegian.
Harry Kane har en lysende fremtid som kicker i NFL foran seg.

And if you were wondering what the joke looks like in Finnish, you’re in luck.
Harry Kane olisi hyvä potkaisija mille tahansa NFL-jengille. #soutot #EPL

But sometimes less is more.

At least Kane saw the funny side of it, though we’re not sure the situation would have been the same had Spurs not ended up winning the game 4-1.
If there's any @NFL teams looking for a kicker in the future, have a look at my game tonight! 😉 #SOUTOT
