With all eyes on the England squad, now was not the time for Joe Hart to embarrass himself.
The Manchester City goalkeeper has been steadily impressive for Torino during his loan spell with the Serie A club, while Claudio Bravo – the man brought in by Pep Guardiola to replace the former Birmingham loanee – has struggled at the Etihad.
But Hart had a day to forget as Internazionale made the trip to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Saturday.
England’s number one gifted Inter a soft opener when he let Geoffrey Kondogbia’s tame effort squirm through his grasp, prompting mockery from all corners and bringing back memories of Kolbeinn Sigthorsson’s Euro 2016 winner for Iceland from the way it trickled into the net, almost in slow motion.
Not Joe Hart's finest moment…a tame shot that wormed its way under his body gives @Inter the lead. 🙈 #TorinoInter https://t.co/fHVDfRwbep

Thankfully for Hart, his blushes were soon saved as goals from Daniele Baselli and Afriyie Acquah helped Torino turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead.
But this was Hart’s day, and he had to find a way of balancing things out.
In the second half, he got under a Cristian Ansaldi cross, missing the ball completely and allowing Antonio Candreva to fire into an unguarded net.
Candreva still had a bit to do, but his task was certainly made easier by virtue of there not being a goalkeeper to get past.

So, about that rumoured Liverpool move…
They all say Joe Hart is a good fit for Liverpool. If his goalkeeping is like this then thanks but I think I'll stick with Mignolet #LFC pic.twitter.com/kSBDR1R1vy

Remind me again why some Liverpool fans think Joe Hart is an upgrade on our current keepers? 🤔
